Alquimia began as a family dream.
What started as a simple idea between husband and wife soon became a life lesson for our children, Iker and Pía. When we first began this journey, Iker was 14 and Pía was just 9 years old. Our intention was not only to open a restaurant, but to show them—through example—the value of responsibility, passion, and hard work from an early age.
Today, that same spirit continues to shape everything we do.
Our story first took root at Alquimia Miramar, where Chef Lupita Ornelas has been developing a bakery inspired by homemade flavors, fresh breads, and the comforting feeling of food made with care.
With Alquimia Las Arenas, we expand that vision. Located in a building with 94 apartments—many of them welcoming travelers through Airbnb—we wanted to create something the area didn’t have yet: a relaxed, welcoming place where locals and visitors can gather, enjoy good food, refreshing drinks, and honest prices.
Alquimia is not about being pretentious. It’s about creating a place where people feel comfortable, where quality matters, and where every dish and drink is prepared with genuine care.
I’m chef Antonio Malpica, originally from Veracruz. I’ve spent my life in the world of food and beverage as a professional chef. Together with my wife, Chef Lupita Ornelas, we built Alquimia not only as business partners, but as parents who believe that family, work, and passion can come together to create something meaningful.
